About MissionWiki
MissionWiki is an open, community-maintained dataset of the missions of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: names, headquarters, countries, languages, boundaries and the history of how each mission was created, renamed, split, merged or closed. It is served as this website, a documented REST API and downloadable files.
Every mission has a permanent id that never changes, plus a readable slug and a short code that follow the name. Old slugs and codes keep redirecting. The public site and API read an immutable published release, so consumers get stable data.

Mission names follow the Church’s published spelling (Church News and Newsroom mission lists). Boundaries are hand-traced and approximate; the Church does not publish boundary polygons. Country borders from Natural Earth were used only to resolve which side of an international border an overlap belonged to. The dataset holds facts only: names, places, codes, dates and geometry.
Contributing
Signed-in editing (property fixes, boundary edits and history events, with review for structural changes) is coming next. Until then, corrections are welcome as issues on the project repository. Every change is recorded as a revision and reaches the public at the next release.
